Gabriela Gil painted this piece in December of 2017. At that point it had been a while since she painted a stand-alone fish, and she wanted to revisit the possibilities. This was the first piece Gil made from an top-down perspective. The monochromatic color palette of the fish, distinctively among Gil's most revisited, oscillates beautifully between a gold rose and coral depending on the light.
