Gabriela Gil completed this piece between April and July of 2017. This period was marked with a handful of trying experiences which drove her inwards as a way to reflect on her potential, her strength, and her grit. Perhaps one of the most telling of her journal entries from the time is: "Strength is not only about standing up for what we believe is right. It is also about not letting bad situations instill us with fear or break us. The bad moments are just as important as the good ones because those are the ones that shape us, strengthen us, and prepare us for whatever is ahead."
